Relax

How do babies sense their mother's mood so easily and accurately?! I mean, HOW do they do it? And is there any way to block them from realising that you are tired, and a bit blue, and just not chirpy?

Yesterday I was tired, and a bit down after a bad night, and Sophie was grouch and hardly slept during the day. Which made me even more tired.. such a vicious cycle.

Today I was feeling much fresher and more relaxed, and she slept more than usual during the day and was a happy little bunny.

How DO they know??

I don't want to miss a thing

This song by Aerosmith (I think - I very blur about such things) is Sophie's some time theme song. Especially the part "I don't want to close my eyes, cos I don't want to miss a thing" and her eyes go *ting* *open wide*.
Today she woke up three times after putting her down for the night. Calvin was out so I had to put her back to bed again. So boring! Cheh, sleep sleep la already!!

Scrabble

Scrabble is John and Calvin's favourite game. Second place goes to chor tai tee and racing grannies. They always play Scrabble, and this time Sophie joined in.

New Activities

Sophie went swimming for the first time this CNY. We went to the pool at Kedah Club, which is so nice and empty, tho quite run down. There was only one other person in the pool, and then only for a short time. So we had the run of the place. They haven't changed anything. The changing rooms are exactly the same as they were 10 years ago. Soph was a bit uncertain over the whole experience, as you can gather from her face. Not very sure what was going on...why there was so much water all around!

She also found that she likes books! She's going to be a little bookworm, just like Mummy.

Reading with Daddy is so much fun.

Happy CNY Everyone!

It's Chinese New Year! Ang pow time! But sadly, no more ang pows for me. At least I get to recoup some of my losses now that Sophie is here.

It's Sophie's first new year. So far she has gathered a number of ang pows, but what has captured her attention (and ours) is not something red, but something orange!
Her own "crocs"! Fake ones la, of course, but so cute!

Auntie Kara has a pair too.

Journey

We flew back to Penang yesterday. Thank God for a lift to the airport! I was going to take Sophie and a bit of luggage on the train to Changi. But since we were loaning our car to Wilson & Angie, and Wilson had the afternoon off, they took us to the airport. Which was great because I ended up with a lot of stuff to carry, even though Calvin took one bag with him to work.
Sophie yelled on the plane! She was tired, and was screaming too much to drink her milk. So just pat pat and finally she fell asleep. It can be so tiring just listening to her cry. Sometimes when she is grouchy she will yell even when I put her down for a few minutes. It just wears me out, especially if she keeps on like that the whole day.

Sophie sausage

All bundled up and ready for her bath. She always smiles and laughs when wrapped up like this, as if she knows what is coming next. Happy baby! She makes such a mess in the bathroom nowadays, kicking and splashing.

Hold My Mummy Tight Tight

"This is how I must hold on to Mummy so that she doesn't leave me to lie on the bed by myself". Sophie's little hands have learned to grasp (in time to grasp ang pows!) and she grabs tightly to anything within reach - our clothes, my hair (ouch) or the straps on her stroller.

Mee Poh

We had mee poh for dinner last night. The directions on the back of the packet read: 'Put the noodles into boiling water, then cook tenderly for 4 minutes.'

Sunday Best

Flip Flip

Sophie pie has learned to roll over at last! We have been waiting for this moment... Now she tries to flip at every opportunity. As soon as she wakes up, she tries to turn over. The problem is, for some reason, after she rolls over, she tends to complain! We haven't figured out whether it's because her arms and neck get tired, or because she can't reach her toys or something else. So we turn her onto her back when she complains. Needless to say, she will promptly try to flip again!

Socks

I was folding clothes while sitting on the bed with her and trying to keep her entertained so we tried on Daddy's socks. So funny I couldn't stop laughing. She can wear them when her tights are in the wash!

Exercises

Doing my exercises.. up, up, up!
